What is a Fax Server
A Fax Server (or Faxserver) is a system installed in a local area network (LAN) server that allows
computer users who are attached to the LAN to send and receive fax messages. It is sending,
receiving and distributing faxes over a network. A fax server is equipped with one or more fax
modems, into which a phone line is plugged. As it connected to a Local Area Network so that it
can communicate with desktop computers on the same network. Also Remote offices can
communicate with a central fax server over the Internet.

A Fax Server offers tighter integration with applications (Exchange, Microsoft applications, SAP
applications, Oracle applications) than many fax services. It allows an IT infrastructure to retain
control over the in-house fax server and it allows IT access to greater customization capabilities.
Fax servers also offer mature technology which may be more comfortable to many late adopters.

If a fax server is acquired, the enterprise is own the proprietary rights of it and no need to pay for
monthly fee. Make the fax communication directly with communications provider but no
intermediary service providers.

Fax service is often provides as Email Fax, internet fax or digital fax. It utilizes an online fax service provider to convert a facsimile transmission into a digital file that can be received via
email and vice versa. There is no hardware device. When you sign up with an online fax service, you will be assigned a dedicated fax phone number that will convert incoming faxes to email
attachments that are automatically sent to your email address. The majority of these fax services also allow you to send attachments (like Word documents, PDF's, or pictures) to physical fax numbers that are received just as if you had sent them using a standard fax machine.
